Vandeweghe that is. KiKi's niece is 6'3 and serves 130 she is only 16, was a late starter starting at 12 lost 5 in the 3rd today. I knoe her coach Guy Fritz, she moved to Palm Spring to train with Jose Higueras. She gave the USTA the bird. Coco's mom was on the 76 relay team that beat the steroided up East German team for an emotional gold medal in swimming.

Coco Vandeweghe is not shy about stating her goals as a tennis player. She wants to be the number one player in the world. "Why play," she says, "If you're going to settle for mediocrity?"
Vandweghe's commitment to be the best has brought her to the Coachella Valley where she lives and trains full time. In addition to spending 4-6 hours on the court banging tennis balls every day, Vandeweghe is also on a daily cross-training routine with Randy McWilliams. She runs hills, does footwork drills, and works on her strokes in the swimming pool to improve balance strength and flexibility.
The 15-year-old's greatest accomplishment to date came the first week of March when she traveled to Montreal, Canada to play in the Junior Fed Cup as one of three representatives from the United States. Just being chosen by the USTA to represent her country is a great honor. Vandeweghe capitalized on the opportunity by winning all of her matches and helping the United States to win the qualifying tournament. The finals are in September.
Vandeweghe played in the qualifying rounds of the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells in March, and she hopes to do the same at the Acura Classic this summer in San Diego.
